Bastun - Baltic Sea Trade Union Network

 
BASTUN Organisation

BASTUN is an independent network of 22 member trade union confederations. The network has a rotating presidency, each term of office being for a period of one year. The presidency rotates according to the presidency of the Council of Baltic Sea States (CBSS) and runs from the beginning of July to the end of June.

Decision Making and Executive Bodies

The Presidency and the Secretariat form a preparatory and executive body while the BASTUN spring and autumn meetings hold the collective decision making role. High level meetings are held every 2 years.

BASTUN Norwegian Presidency 

The BASTUN presidency is from July 2010 through June 2011 held by the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO Norway) in cooperation with Confederation of Unions for Professionals, Norway (Unio) and the Confederation of Vocational Unions(YS).

BASTUN’s priorities reflect the political and social situation in the Baltic Sea Region. The network follows political discussion and aims to keep relevant issues for the trade union movement very much on the agenda.


 
The Norwegian Presidency (2010-2011) has the following priorities:

  • Trade Union Vision 2020 for the Baltic Sea Region
  • Trade union rights in Russia
  • Energy, energy security and climate
